With the Olympics kicking off tomorrow everyone is London crazed and designers and merchandisers are cashing in. 

Stella McCartney designed the Team Great Britain kit for all the british athletes from warm up suits, uniforms and medal accepting outfits. While everyone had high hopes, I was a little disappointed. Stella self admittedly said her original ideas were more exciting and consisted of sea imagery and metallics. Worried they would be deemed disrespectful to the nation and athletes she settled on a more conservative look incorporating a more delicate union jack motif.

I'm so excited about this post because I pretty much spent my first 20 years of life on a beach on the east coast. Now I live in LA and I rarely find time to go to the beach (ironically I live even closer to the beach now than I did growing up). This past weekend was even my first trip to Malibu's Paradise Cove after almost five years of living here if you can believe it.

These photos were taking by the talented photographer Gray Malin who I heard of through a friend and, after an amount of googling, found this series entitled “A la Plage, A la Piscine”. Flying over beaches everywhere from the U.S. to Australia, Malin captured these photos while shooting from a doorless helicopter to create “visual celebration of color, light, shape and summer bliss”.
